I wonder what Gurdjieff means by three sexes?
I'm also baffled at the goat and midwife story.
I understand that he decided to write in an unconventional fashion for it to be more of a challenge and 'work' to get any true understanding (which must always come at a cost). Maybe the staying with it in spite of frustration with it, is work in itself and generates conscious energy???...
But I did get the feeling that he was trying to dishearten the reader, maybe so that only serious seekers would go on reading and searching within the pages?
It was also nearly shocking to read that he recommends reading 'especially' the first chapter more than once because as soon as I read that I couldn't help first thinking 'seriously!!' and then 'What have I missed?'...
